Nissan has announced plans to build a hatchback that will compete with the Ford Focus. The model name is not reported. According to preliminary data, the new product will replace the Nissan Note, and will be based on the concept car Invitation, presented at an international motor show in Geneva in March 2012.
The production of the car will be launched at the plant in Sunderland, United Kingdom, which currently assembles the model Qashqai, Qashqai +2, Leaf and Juke. Nissan will invest in the plant 127 million pounds (154 million euro) 8.2 million (10 million euros) of which – a grant from the British government.
