Nissan Is Preparing to Build New Ford Focus Hatchback Rival

Nissan has announced plans to build a hatchback that will compete with the Ford Focus. The model name is not reported. According to preliminary data, the new product will replace the Nissan Note, and will be based on the concept car Invitation, presented at an international motor show in Geneva in March 2012.

The production of the  car will be launched at the plant in Sunderland, United Kingdom, which currently assembles the model Qashqai, Qashqai +2, Leaf and Juke. Nissan will invest in the plant 127 million pounds (154 million euro) 8.2 million (10 million euros) of which – a grant from the British government. Each year, the company plans to gather in Sunderland 550,000 cars. With the launch of the new model plant for the first time in its 26-year history, will move to non-stop operation.
