The Future of American Racing – SHAKEDOWN

Leo’s weekly rant, this time about the current state of American racing – the politics, talent, and marketing. Is Danica Patrick ruining racing in this country? Should Ken Block be put on the block? And is Dale Jr. an American Icon for racing? All things we consider on this week’s SHAKEDOWN. Hosted by Leo Parente. LINKS: tinyurl.com / tinyurl.com

    @mickvk You know who else does not posses the skills and knowledge required for the tasks they attempt to complete??? (Besides the previously mentioned ‘full-retard twins’ Sarah Palin and Danica Patrick)

    … Ken Block in any rally stage, on any planet, anywhere in the known universe (besides one set up with 263 cameras, 3,483 takes, and endless support)

  2. eeeen321 says:

    @mickvk “Back off chauvinists… This has nothing to do with his boobs either.”

    That statement is not even applicable to what I said, OR to the comment you made!

    *HINT* Try proof reading, and stick to the correct anatomy if you want to be accurate in your transparent attempt to act like an angry hypocritical sexist firing from the hip?

    Your rant is blindly aimed. As Human Beings, Danica and Sarah Palin do not posses the skills and knowledge required for the tasks they attempt to complete.

  3. eeeen321 says:

    @mickvk HAHA… wait, is this a joke?

    I can’t tell if that is humorous sarcasm, or a real feminists outburst? IF not sarcastic, are you really going to drop the sexist card after I CLEARLY explained the point??

    AFTER I already preemptively said, “back off feminists, nothing to do with being a woman” … It is 100% based on their lack of Skill & Knowledge in the specific fields they work. FACT.

    “Back off chauvinists… This has nothing to do with his boobs either.” LOL?!? … his boobs?

  4. mickvk says:

    Leo, I usually just enjoy the episode and click on my way, but I had to take a sec to say you really nailed that one. And yes, it is the internet, that joke was fine. JF Musicals, lighten up man:)

  5. mickvk says:

    @eeeen321 You’re not very good at not talking about Danica. You know, it wasn’t even that good of an idea to begin with.

    Back off chauvinists… This has nothing to do with his boobs either.

    Even with 2k horsepower and 2 hours recharge every 200miles battery electric cars will still suck. Why don’t companies focus more on Hydrogen development? I think car companies atm are buying time for petrol companies by pleasing the the eco-freaks with stuff that will not work.

  7. NielvanSteenderen says:

    I am really excited about the Toyota electric. As you say Leo, it’s cutting edge. It must be interesting to drive it, I wonder if being able to hear what the tiers are doing will make a difference or if it’s still all by feel.

    Preach Leo Preach !!!

  9. millat1m3 says:

    @JamesThWilliams I guess runners, speed skaters, and virtually every other non-motorized racer is just going around in circles as well?

  10. millat1m3 says:

    @eeeen321 actually I think it has a lot to do with being a woman, bring it on feminists!

  11. eeeen321 says:

    lol

    Lets just NOT talk about Danica? Maybe then her driving skills (or better yet, lack there of) will be in the spot light, rather than her drama-magnetics & her boobs/legs? Why won’t she just go away?!

    Danica is to racing, what Sarah Palin is to politics. Both made it waaay further than they should have based on the “skills” they actually posses. Both are 100% dependent on their biased demographics and skewed coverage/sponsorships. (back off feminists, nothing to do with being a woman)

    @shadowbaby Well, electric motors still need lubricants… maybe Leo is opening up their minds for a new market, lol

    nice video LEO!

  14. AnasALHosani says:

    this guy looks like somebody “fast-forward” him!

  15. euro944t says:

    @JamesThWilliams
    But Danica says she likes being in a CIRCLE JERK oval.

  16. JamesThWilliams says:

    @VatoMX
    Real racing leagues won’t go that way, only third rate driving in circles.

  17. JamesThWilliams says:

    Oh no going around in circles in considered racing by you guys. Forget it Danica used to be in a real racing league now she’s just going around in circles.

    Its comforting to see these american big superstars, Ken Block and Travis Pastrana, altho I love their tricks, make fools out of themselves when they get out there in the real world where there is real competition.

    But its like everything american isnt it. Music, tv, cars, military… anything really. Its always sprinkled with patriotism and the american dream. You need to dig deep to see any real talent. Its all about marketing and hype.

  19. whonelly1220 says:

    that was a great joke!

  20. Janusha says:

    Leo… What do I think about electric racing? It IS a danger to motorsport. But not racing itself. Im sure less drama and shaking in the car will benefit the drivers and allow them to focus more on the task. However its dangerous because of the spectators. What is a sportscar without the rumble of the V8 or how howl of the V12. What is left to get all excited over.

    Will people show up for F1 racing if the high pitch scream is gone… or.. dragracing if the boneshaking rumble is gone.

  21. jonnyswitchblade says:

    I like endurance racing because they are either production-based GT cars or as in the case of Audi for example, transferring tech to production cars. If you don’t like hybridization/electrification then you should also complain about disc brakes and halogen head lamps. What relevance does NASCAR or DTM have to production cars except they “look” like a street car? Boring and useless. As for promoting personality vs. skill, don’t turn racing into professional wrestling. Loved ALMS in B-More BTW!

  22. darius112 says:

    For me no matter what image they attempted to sell I know enough about racing and driving a car to have no respect for someone who would not even on the track if she didn’t have a vagina. As for Ken Block to me he is a joke. Doing tricks in slowmo and heavily edited short films means nothing other then he is a wannabe who has money to invest in his image. I’ll respect you when you show skills that actually matter in motor sports. Car control, being consistent, and pure guts.

  23. VuksaKC says:

    Baseball exciting sport lol xD

  24. VatoMX says:

    I agree with Leo, it’s not about talent anymore and that maybe the killer of the sport. Playboy bunnies and Hollywood hunks a race team do not make. What’s next the Jersey Shore 500 . . . Oh god

  25. WoLFkaboom says:

    so bio fuel isnt good enough for racing we need exspensive batteries and battery chargers that will probably damage the battery
